Curious about what the staff of The Tower does? Here's the rundown on the various positions and roles that make our production team fly.
The Editor-In-Chief shall oversee all duties for the production of the journal and is ultimately responsible for all content in the publication. All decisions for the Journal that are not defined in this constitution shall be made by the Editor-In-Chief. He or she will serve as the external representative for the publication and supervise all other Editorial Board members. Annually or when requested, the editor shall submit to the Board of Student Publications a written report on the status of the Journal. The Editor-In-Chief shall have the authority to accept or reject articles approved for publication by the Review Board and shall be responsible for maintaining and modifying the "Submission Publication Process" when deemed appropriate.
The Associate Editor for Submission Review shall oversee the members of the Review Board and be responsible for the solicitation and approval of articles. Students wishing to be published in the Tower shall contact the Associate Editor for Submission Review who shall forward the student's article to the appropriate members of the Review Board for consideration. He or She must also be a member of the Review Board.
The Associate Editor for Production shall oversee all production aspects of the Journal's publication including layout, copyediting, style and printing.
The Business Manager shall be responsible for all business matters of the Tower including finances, marketing, and distribution.
The Accounting Assistant assists the business manager in managing all the finances of the Tower. This includes assisting with the budget and general treasurer duties, as well as tracking all donations made toward the Tower. The accounting assistant also records all of these financial transactions. When appropriate, the accounting assistant also assists the other members of the business branch.
The Marketing Assistant assists the business manager in promoting the Tower to the Georgia Tech community. The marketing assistant helps map and execute advertising strategies on campus and markets to both students interested in the Tower and student participating in research. The marketing assistant also oversees all public relations matters of the Tower and ensures that the Tower acquires an adequate number of submissions. When appropriate, the marketing assistant also assists the other members of the business branch.
The Fundraising Assistant assists the business manager in acquiring donations from both on and off campus sponsors. By promoting and branding the Tower, the fundraising assistant attains contributions from individual sponsors as well as organizations and corporations. The fundraising assistant works closely with the accounting and marketing assistants to calculate tactical approaches to gain and track funds. When appropriate, the fundraising assistant also assists the other members of the business branch.
The Webmaster will manage the appearance and the content of the website as requested by the Assoc. Editor of Production and/or by the Editorial Board. Templates and preliminary designs for the website must be submitted to the Assoc. Editor of Production for a review/feedback. After this review process, if the design/template is deemed appropriate for the usage for The Tower, the Assoc. Editorial of Production will submit it to the Editorial board for the final review.
The Layout Editor will create templates that will be used for the journal. Templates and preliminary designs for the layout must be submitted to the Assoc. Editor of Production for a review/feedback. After this review process, if the design/template is deemed appropriate for the usage for The Tower, the Assoc. Editorial of Production will submit it to the Editorial board for the final review.
The Copy Editor will be in charge of rectifying any design/grammatical errors that may be present in all the final products created by the Production Group before they are submitted for the Editorial Board review.
The Photo Editor/Graphic Designer will be in charge of creating/editing/enhancing all the graphics ( i.e. images, graphs, tables etc.) that are present in the journal. Edited Images/ preliminary designs must be submitted to the Assoc. Editor of Production for a review/feedback. After this review process the Assoc. Editorial of Production, if the design is deemed appropriate for the usage for The Tower, will submit it to the Editorial board for the final review. In the case of enhanced images, the enhanced images must be reviewed by the Assoc. Editor of Production.
The Accounting Assistant will assist the business manager in the management of the finances of the Tower, and all external communication. Primary responsibilities will include assisting with the budget and general treasurer duties, external communication to include press releases and corporate advertisement, and the promotion of the Tower brand outside of the Georgia Tech campus. The accounting assistant will also assist the marketing assistant as needed.
The Marketing Assistant will assist the business manager in the promotion of the Tower to the Georgia Tech community. Primary responsibilities will include assisting with all campus promotion activities, acquisition of campus advertisements and donations, and the continued branding of the Tower in the campus community. The marketing assistant will also assist the accounting assistant as needed.
The Reviewers will be responsible for reviewing all articles submitted to the Tower and selecting those that they believe to be fit for publication. All articles shall be approved or rejected according to the guidelines outlined in the "Submission Publication Process" which is maintained by the Editor-In-Chief with the advice and consent of the Editorial Board.
